Caroline Mitchell (photo at left) was a co-organizer and invited speaker at the Keystone virtual symposium Global Priorities in Vaginal Health: Microbes, Mucosal Immunology and Intervention. She also presented “Opportunities and Challenges in Developing Next Generation Therapeutics to Promote a Stable, Healthy Vaginal Microbiome” at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Grand Challenges Conference, Virtual. In addition, she presented at the annual meeting of the Infectious Diseases Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (July 29-30) and transitioned to the role of IDSOG president.

Anne Plante accepted the opportunity to be a part of an advisory board for Harvard Medical School’s educational program called Targeted Education for Autism Management across Medical Specialties (TEAMS). The goal is to develop educational/informational content for parents of and medical providers across disciplines for adults with ASD, including transition-aged young adults.

Allison Bryant Mantha presented at the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine’s virtual workshop on Advancing Maternal Health Equity and Reducing Maternal Morbidity and Mortality, held June 7-8. Her talk was titled “Maternal Inequities: What we should have already known, but nonetheless learned from the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Bryann Bromley gave several talks on obstetric ultrasound at the 2021 Virtual Leading Edge in Diagnostic Ultrasound: Women’s Health Symposium, Jefferson Ultrasound Medical Education Institute (May 13).

Bryann Bromley chaired the committee to write the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine’s  AIUM Practice Parameter for the Performance of Detailed Diagnostic Obstetric Ultrasound Examinations Between 12 Weeks 0 Days and 13 Weeks 6 Days, published in August 2020. She also presented the AIUM Maternal Fetal Medicine Course “What’s New in OB” and spoke at the Gottesfeld-Hohler (GoHo) Medical Foundation in December on “Early Pregnancy Dating and Pregnancy Loss.”

Jan Shifren presented “Menopausal Management: Update for 2020” at the OB/GYN Grand Rounds at North Shore Medical Center. She also presented “The Role of Testosterone in Female Sexual Dysfunction” at the Brigham and Women’s Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Grand Rounds.

Caroline Mitchell lectured on “Bacterial vaginosis: What’s Old, What’s New and What to do?” at the Contraceptive Technology Conference in September, and she gave grand rounds at Tufts on the same topic. She also lectured on “Mothers and microbes: How maternal microbiota influence pregnancy and infant outcomes” at Weill Cornell Medicine.

Jan Shifren gave Newton Wellesley Hospital’s OB/GYN Zoom Grand Rounds on “Menopause Update for 2020” on July 15. At the end of June, she lectured on “Menopausal Hormone Therapy: Care Amid Controversy,” the Trudy Bush Lecture for the Virginia Commonwealth University Institute for Women’s Health Conference (virtual).

Poster presentations by Shruthi Mahalingaiah, with other colleagues, at the 32nd Annual Conference of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology, August 24-27, 2020, focused on: (1) “Fine particulate matter and polycystic ovary morphology: a retrospective investigation of electronic medical records and PM2.5”; (2) “Associations of residential greenness exposures with age at natural menopause in the Nurses’ Health Study II Cohort”; (3) “Exposures to residential noise and outdoor light at night and age at natural menopause in the Nurses’ Health Study II Cohort”; and (4) “Studying bariatric surgery patients to evaluate endocrine disrupting chemical effects on male reproduction. In September, she was a special guest speaker on the need for early investigator support and research funding for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) at the Rise to the Challenge Virtual Gala and Silent Auction, and she also spoke on “Understanding Hormones, the Menstrual Cycle, and Ovulation in PCOS” at the Virtual PCOS Awareness Symposium 2020.

Lauren Hanley presented at the California Breastfeeding Coalition “Providing the best possible solutions in less than ideal circumstances: Integrating practices for COVID-19 positive and PUI birthing parents with consideration of infection control and baby-friendly practices.” She also presented at the Harvard Medical School’s Continuing Medical Education webinar program “Pregnancy and Breastfeeding During COVID-19.”

Allison Bryant Mantha is serving as expert witness in a suit brought forth by the ACLU vs US FDA and HHS regarding mifepristone access during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jennifer Neczypor presented on her work in Chelsea, MA, at Seed Global Health’s Nurses Lead | Fireside Chat on “Nurses and Midwives Delivering Prenatal and Postnatal Care During COVID-19” on May 7.

Allison Bryant Mantha presentations included (1) a SMFM webinar on Health Inequities and COVID-19; (2) the Perinatal and Neonatal Quality Improvement Network’s COVID19 and Pregnancy Town Hall on “Equity in the Time of COVID”; (3) ACOG’s OB COVID working group; and (4) “Obstetrical inequities in the time of COVID-19,” at  the Oregon Perinatal Quality Collaborative.

Kristina Dzara and Lori R. Berkowitz facilitated the discussion “The Vague Vice-Chair: How Do We Optimize The Role in OB/GYN?” at the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology Annual Meeting in February in Orlando, FL.

Sarah Bernstein did a NEJM Clinical Pathological Conference on “A 35 Year-Old Woman with Cardiopulmonary Arrest During a Cesarean Section” at Department of Anesthesiology Grand Rounds in February, and in March, she gave “Caring for Women with Substance Use Disorders” at the Cambridge Health Alliance, Treating the Addictions Conference.
